Review

"Electric Bass Lines Complete," by Carol Kaye. 64 pages, US$10.95, Alfred Publishing.

If you haven't seen or played through one of these great books from Carol Kaye's popular series, you don't know what you've been missing. Electric Bass Lines Complete is a sort of "greatest hits" amalgam from the Electric Bass Lines Series, Vols. 1-6, and showcases some great theory and chord info, as well as the lines and styles that made her a bass legend.

Within this volume, you will also find reading exercises on latin rock, 6/4 and 5/4 studies, practice in all 12 keys, duets, chord theory, standard rock patterns, easy licks, scale patterns, and a special section on recorded lines. I try not to throw around the term "must have" in these reviews, but really, this book (and Volumes 1-6) are a must have. Check them out for fun and informative sightreading experience. FYI: Volumes 1-6 generally go for about $5.95 per book.
