: What is the proper care and maintenance of gut strings ? Also, the D string isnt as focused as the G or A. Any hints ?

I recently put a set on my Kay. I raised the bridge up to provide more tension and more space for the string to swing around. I didn't like them at first but I got used to the subtleties and the difference in decay. Plus they are great for slapping! Get some all natural Almond oil or something similar from a co-op or natural foods market and put in on the strings once a week or so. Keeps them from drying out.
