: : hi,
: : looking for suggestions, i'm an amateur jazz bassist that owns a good sounding kay bass and it needs a fret board badly + bridge. it sounds good but trying to figure out if i should put money into this or go for the glory of an carved bass. anybody knows price of putting a fret board on. anyone know sellers/repairers of uprights in new england area?? thanks tim

Average price for a New Fingerboard Job by a competent Luthier
is anywhere from $600 to $900 bucks, depending on whether you need a new bridge or not.You may be able to save some bucks by ordering the Fingerboard yourself, Bob steered me to a great Place, Luthier Merchantile. The sent me a quality fingerboard at wholesale price. So check out that Luthier Directory, and ask around.
