: Hello all. I played a friend's Kay bass over the weekend that was strung with Labella Supernil strings. I couldn't believe the difference from my Engelhardt's factory strings (perhaps D'Addarios?). I was wondering why Supernil's seem to have such a bad reputation in some circles? As far as rockabilly slapping (pretty much all I do), the Supernil's seem to be a great, inexpensive choice. Any thoughts on this?
They aren't that bad for bluegrass and other styles where they are suited; can't bow them, though.
FYI, according to my contact there, Engelhardts used to come with Supersensitive Red Label, and now come with LaBella RC-610. The Supersensitives are pretty lousy IMHO.
