First, thanks to all who have replied to past e-mails,especially Bob G.
I acquired a doublebass which was made in Mexico, and have had a luthier set it up(I took R.Laird,et al's advice),but having have played it for a month now,I would like to make some changes. Oddly,it is somewhere between 1/4 and 3/4 size:string length(nut to bridge is almost exactly one meter(39.25inches)Body length is 70",with upper and lower bouts of 19" and 24". Strings are black round wounds. Action is very, very soft-much too easy. I would like to buy strings with greater tension and greater volume. I play both pizz and arco equally.
I'm confused about the attributes of the different windings and materials-can anyone advise me,or is there a website that has a comprehensive summary of whats available, and how to select strings? P.S-I'll buy a used set from anyone out there who has what I need.
