Just so everyone knows: Walter Woods makes great amplifiers that are lightweight and which definitely sound better than the run-of-the-mill bass amp, but I've had mine for two years and am getting ready to send it to him for the second time in thirteen months to be repaired (at a cost of about $460 total, which includes shipping charges and non-warranty repair fees). The little red $1200 box has become a joke to my colleagues, in front of whom it has died on several gigs. In the meantime, I've been using an Eden WT400 which is cheaper, more powerful and, with my particular bass and pickup and speaker cabinet and fingers, sounds every bit as good as the Woods. The more years and hundreds of gigs I play, the less I worry about what I'm plugging the bass into--an opinion shared by many bassists I've met with vastly more experience than me. Of course, the Woods is very light and easy to carry, which is important--but so are the Acoustic Image Clarus head, the GK MB150, a Polytone 12" combo amp, etc., all of which are readily available, relatively inexpensive, and used by excellent professional musicians. $.02!
