Hi Derek,
my Pfretschner from around the 1920īs has itīs original
lenth. 110 cm. Quite long for this size of body(3/4).
Currently Thomastic Spirocores are fitted and the sustain
is amazing as well as the projection and volume of the tone.
The tuners fitted are nothing special (standard production)
on plates.

Kolstein offered a Pfretschner som time ago (click the link below to view)
it has a string length of 108 cm, also quite long.
His bass looks refinished to me but bare in mind, I am no expert !
Please explain what you meen with "sluggish and chocked" ?
Unfortunately my english is not good enough :-))
