The AKG is a high dollar mic used for recording low range instruments. It would be the best choice if you are going mic only, but if you bought a Raven Labs or similar 2 channel mixer, you could blend it with a pickup. I use the Golden Trinity with a Bass Max, which for a blended sound is a good compromise.

Depends on the room, volume needed, instruments, etc. I usually am about 80% mic and 20% pickup. I find in most situations that the mic only doesn't cut through the drums, so the pickup fattens the sound a little.
