I mentioned in an earlier post that I recently played an Eminence and was pleasantly surprised at the action and how easily it bowed. I'm thinking about getting some kind of a detachable-neck semi-acoustic, like the Eminence, that packs down to the size of a set of golf clubs (or thereabouts). I travel a lot, and I'd love to be able to take something like this with me when I leave town for the week, so that my travel time wouldn't be completely dead from a practice standpoint. I need to be able to hear the notes, but what I also need is a "mute bass" - something I can play in a hotel room without worrying about the next-door room. A bassist's equivalent of a drum pad...

To date, I don't play jazz, pop, rock, folk, etc. at all, just classical. I don't particularly care about the electronics, other than how they might affect resale value.

Besides the Eminence, what's out there that you've played and that you would recommend for this purpose?
