Are you kidding?? There's a glut of doctors in America right now!
No, if you're going to face reality, take the bass back and buy a computer, then enroll in programming classes at the local community college.
My college dropout husband, who never played music in his life, makes twice his age (times $1K, of course) and has time to play games, email me, and search job boards for even better jobs. Now that's the life!
Seriously, ask yourself, *why* you want to play, how committed you are to playing, and what you hope to get out of this experience, other than lots of bills and first name relationships with luthiers. I gave lessons to younger bass players back in high school, and I couldn't believe the "pie in the sky" fantasies these kids had. Kids with no ear, no discipline, no time to practice, no interest in listening to music other than rap (blaah!), and no respect for the long, patient route to professional playing. It sickened me that their parents were wasting money on instruments that only left their cases when they chose to come to class.
How bad do you want to be a bass player? Unless your stomach is burning with desire, I'd join the computer club instead.
: : I just started playing stand-up about a week ago. Anyone got any good advise?
: Take it back and go to med school
