: : Hello:
: : I am wanting to purchase an acoustic bass guitar that can be heard in an all acoustic jam w/guitar,banjo and mandolin.I dont want an upright or an electric bass.
: : Will the Epiphone El Capitan,Johnson,Fender etc work for this?
: : Are there any that will besides Tacoma & Taylor?

: Hello, I've had 2 of type of basses with different oppinions of each.
: #1. was a acoustic only, non cutaway, spruce/maple big blonde bodied HarpTone that had super tone/response etc. Wonderful! Made in early 70's, and later 70's Standel had their name on similar ax's. #2. Was a Takamine Jasmine spruce/maple cutaway with bridge piezo & 4 band EQ. It never cut it acoustically, even after several string choices,(maybe too thick of a finish)and it was hard to repeat a good tone electrically if I ever stumbled on one. It ate 9v batteries at the worst times too! I might look at a Guild someday or a custom built. J. Cummins

Sir,
Does a bigger "body"mean more volume acoustically?
The Epiphone is supposed to be BIG ut it is laminated. Will a solid top have more volume over a laminated top?
