: What is the technique to slap a double bass in rockabilly style ?
-There are a few different techniques used to create the slap sounds. There are at least two teaching videos out there, Lee Rocker and Mark Rubin (both are on my web site under players - Double Bass Links Page - http://www.bobthebassguy.com/basslink.html )

Mark Rubin also did a two part brief series in Bass Player Magazine earlier this year.

: Are there special strings needed ? Spercial set up of the bass ?

Usually players like less taut strings, and sometimes buy a "solo" set, which is designed to be tuned up one step from normal, and then tune them to regular pitch in order to have lighter gauge, more slack strings. Gut strings are also popular (but expensive). The nut action can be "normal" but you need action at the base of the fingerboard high enough to get your fingers beneath it.

: Where can I find info to learn this ?

www.rockabillybass.com may help.

: Any other info on the subject is welcome.

: Thkx to let me know (oooppsss..by the way, pls reply by e-mail, I'm not so often here unfortunately:)

Emailed, too. Bob
