: : My endpin keeps slipping, and also makes a horrible sound when I am playing. Is it easy to replace the endpin myself, and how would I do it? I would like to replace it myself if I could.
: It's easy to replace if you can get a replacement with the same size insert; if not it can be a chore, especially if it is significantly larger - the block really needs to mate well with the endpin. You may also need to replace the sound post if it falls as a result of no pressure on the bass' belly.
You haven't described what you have. Is is a solid metal shaft? A tube? It sounds as if there is no groove in the endpin to accept the set screw. If this is the problem, one less expensive solution is to cut in a groove at the point needed for your comfort.
