the Velvet Anima, they were recommended to me by Velvet as alternative for what I'm trying to acheive, but I don't anyone who has used them, does anyone know what they are like?.
.....i used velvet anima and compas 360 for a while. i was very unhappy with
their bowing qualities. pizz sound was very good, anima a little bit better
than compas. for my 40 years old german flatback the tension was too low, i had
problems with old but repaired cracks. i stopped using velvet strings after a few
weeks and went back to pirastro gut. oliv is better for bowing than eudoxa, which
is better for pizz. if you try velvet, you have to change the bridge and nut of
your bass, all 4 strings are as thick as a standard A-string!! when i used them
on my bass, the top camed up, i needed a new a little bit longer soundpost.
hope this information helps: chris
