Because they aren't solid steel, I would doubt it. It won't do anything to help (and may hurt) the breakdown of the core, which is the reason they don't last as long as other strings. All non-solid steel strings will have a shorter life-span; I used to get years out of a set of Spirocores, but the inner core material that gives you the gut like sound on the Obligatos seem to be cheap, which explains all the unraveling problems and lack of life I've been hearing a lot about lately. Haven't heard many complaints on the sound though.
