: I know we've been over and over this, but my Realist & Polytone combo just aren't doing it for me anymore. Artificial, too much addded mwah, not warm etc.

: I'd rather avoid the hassles of mics (I use one for PA shows). What really sounds natural for pickup and amp (don't want the amp to weigh a ton).

: Thanks!

I think ( remember this is only my opinion ) that you can;t go wrong with the Acoustic Image Contra ! I use a modified version in as much as I have the standard main cab but my local amp tech' modified the extension cab by putting an Acoustic Image power amp in - this , of course , means that it has to be plugged into the mains but this is only one extra lead . The extension cab takes it's signal feed from the main cab's preamp which my amp tech' fitted with some circuitry so that all the settings I have on my main cab are mimiced on the extension !
This means I have an Acoustic Image amp but with twice the power ! It REALLY fills the room ---- it's like having surround sound bass .
The pickup I use is the Rich Barbera pickup - great sound !
Hope this has been of some help .
Andy .
