Well. I am not sure how to take that last comment. It really sounds quite harsh. Perhaps I am not understanding what you mean or your lack of scope. I believe that the Realist is the most used pickup (at least by the pros) in the states. I am sure there is a reason for that but I am also sure that there are better pickups for more $. For less than 200 you can't beat it. I also think that the bass is the most important aspect in tone. The fingers are the second most important aspect. Touch and feel are keys to good tone. For all that hail the great Walter Woods (this could get ugly now)I have heard them sound bad on numerous occations. I have also heard them sound great. There are so many variables that one system is not going to work every time for the true working bass player. I just played at the Monterey Jazz Festival and I used an Audio Technica ATM-35 (not my Realist) and just had monitors and ran through the PA. I was very happy with the tone. If you look back to my first reponce everything was "in my opinion" and I do believe that that is the idea for posting to begin with.
