Umm, you remember that part where I said I was using a Polytone extension speaker with a JBL 12" inside? Well I'm using a Polytone extension speaker with a JBL 12" inside.
ahem. I think also I said earlier that I had used my Woods with Raezer's Edge 10" bass cabinet. It sounded really good, if I were in the market for a new cab I would definitely think about it. I heard a bassist named Bob Sabin up here use the AI head with and EA 1 10 cabinet, he got a great sound. Kavehaz ( a joint up here) has a pretty funny sounding room, up next to the stage is great but the sound falls off about 18' out, some kinda weird column/ceiling height thing just eats the sound. but Bob's bass sounded just like Bob's bass acoustically when I was at the bar (which is in the dead zone).
But here's something, buddy of mine I correspond with uses cabinets built by a friend of his locally (in Louisville KY) that are loaded with a single 8. He uses 1 cabinet for duo/trio gigs and two cabinets for bigger gigs/large rooms. Maybe get a buncha small cabinets and stack'em for whatever the gig is. For a big rock gig 4 8" speakers (stacked together so you get the "bass doubling" effect)are gonna have 32" total speaker measurements, as opposed to 30" for 2 15'"s....
