: Hey all,
: I've been trying to find a good pickup for an upright jazz bass. Anything but the Fishman BP-100 please. I've had that pickup for the longest time and I'm not at all impressed with it. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I'm a dedicated user of K&K pickups. I'd recommend two of their systems for jazz bass:
1)The Bass Master Pro which combines a bridge wing-mounted transducer and a 4-way piezo which attaches to the underside of the bridge
2)The Golden Trinity which combines the same wing-mounted transducer and a small condenser microphone.
Each system comes with its own preamp for EQ-ing and blending the signals.
I've used the Golden Trinity on 2 basses in many live performance situations. Always gets full natural tone for arco, pizz, and slap. If you're not right on top of an amp or monitor you can get a lot of output before the feedback threshold.
Just started using the Bass Master Pro on another bass. Again, very good results, full natural tone. Used it for a recording session last week...I usually hate the sound of any bass recorded direct thru a pickup but By Golly I really liked the tone of this old plywood bass with the BMP.
