FYI

Std. Open Strings Tunings fur Viola familie and Guitarre :(Piano Middle C = C4, 261,63 Hz)

Violin - G3, D4, A4, E5

Viola - C3, G3, D4, A4

Violin - C2, G2, D3, A3

Double Bass - E1, A1, D2, G2 (But written one octave higher than played in F Clef, E1= 41,2 Hz, A1=55,00 Hz, D2 = 73,416 Hz, 97,999 Hz)

Guitar - E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4 (But written one octave higher than played in G Clef)

: : I'm a composer needing some advice regarding the lower range of a bass with C as its bottom note. How easy is it to play down there? Can one play lots of fast notes easily? Are quarter tones (microtones) possible between the E and the C?
: : Thanks in advance.

: "Standard" basses, which make up most of the population, can only go down to E. Only those equipped with an Extension, or a player with a five string bass with a low B string, can go down to C. Mechanical extensions cannot play microtones, and from my limited experience with them, speed is not something they excel at.
