Dear friends:

I will soon buy a proper,3/4 size plywood/laminated bass, and will probabbly string it with the Corelli 370 Fort Tirant set currently on my 5/8 size Mexican bass.

I need advice on what strings to put on the Mexican. This is a very lightly constructed plywood instrument which is very hard to play with the Corellis on(high, stiff action)but has excellent tone. I would like to restirng it with strings which will give a deep, warm tone and light action. Volume is not a concern,as I will use the bass at C&W and Bluegrass jams, where all instruments are miked through the PA system.Nor is bowing,as this bass was never ment to be bowed(neck and bridge not sufficently curved). I was thinking of Supernils-or some other nylon, gut or composite(?)strings which are not to expensive(c.$100). Also, can you recommend a not too expensive pick-up and a small, lightweight amp for practice?

Thanks,Michael
