i have a palatino....it is not horrible...pretty close though...i wish i had bought a better bass, if you are a serious student you could out grow a paltino in less than a month! i have put a lot of work into mine and have improved it quite a bit and i still find it inadequate. if i where to buy a chinese beginer bass i think i would go with the christopher bass. i think it is interesting that both hammond ashley and david gage sell the christopher. both of them put a lot of work into the basses before they leave the store. from my experience playing a christopher at gages shop i can say that their workmanship is well worth the money. i have not been to hammond ashley but they have an extremely good reputation.
