I studied with Michael Moore and he does in fact use the Streicher Method. We worked on changing my hand position for a few months. For myself I found it difficult to emulate exactly what Michael wanted me to do. I pushed it until I was in knots. Then I went to another teacher who personally studied with Streicher. She modified the technique to better fit my body type etc. Now I play what would be a hybrid between traditional Simandl and Streicher. The method is very useful and I continue to warm-up using the books. My advice would be to take some lessons on the Streicher Method and see what you can use. His book is titled "My Way of Playing the Double Bass" and it is just that. Streicher had HUGE hands and very low action. Use your intincts and intellect and find our own way.
