seems to me i've heard that juzeks vary quite a bit in quality (and thus value). that is to say, there are a lot of them around and not all of them are worth 7k. wilfer's are a bit more consistent, if i may generalize, and will probably be more 'reliably' priced. not a lot of frills with those basses.

but here's the real gist of my rap: if you've got seven grand, you can get a good good bass. for your own sake, don't limit your search to a couple of makers or even a couple of shops. find a few good shops, reputable, established proprietors. take another bass player with you so you can hear each instrument you're considering played - they sound different from where you're audience will be sitting. take your time, don't rush into a decision, you'll be glad you did. when you find a bass that's worth all the money you're spending on it, you've found one that you can resell easily (and perhaps profitably) later.
