: Hi,
: I am new to the double bass. I have been taking lessons with a French bow and I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of the French vs. the German bow.

: Thanks
: Arnoldo

Gary Karr likes his students to experience playing both; there's something to learn from each.
Having said that, the 'best' bow is whichever allows you to reach your full potential. Chances are, that will be the style which is most comfortable for you, not anyone else. No one can presume to tell you which it should be.
