: I need a new amp, but since Iīm a beginer i donīt know which one. We have (in the band) two guitars with Peavey(60w) and Peavey(40w). We play realy loud so I donīt know which amp should I buy! I have enough money for the Marshall B65 (65w) and for the Fender Bassman 60 (60w). Are these amps loud enough for playing with the other two amps? Which is better? I have 400$. Can I buy a Trace Eliot for this money?
: You might want to post your question in an electric bass forum such as Talkbass for a wider variety of answers. In my experience, the lower frequencies of the bass require more power and headroom than what you are describing; guitarists get away with less. You will probably need to be more in the 200-300 watt range at least. I've been using Carvin amps for my electric work, they pack a lot of bang for the buck. Might be something in your price range.
