I get my bass in a 4 door volvo 240 sedan. The trick is lay the passenger seat back, then put the bass in neck first at an angle so the headstock sort of rest on the top of the backseat and the body of the bass is laying across the passenger front seat. I can fit a 4x10 cab with head and accessories in trunk. Theres even a place for a passenger in the backseat behind the driver. When shopping for a car before I even check how good it runs my first requirement is; will my upright fit in it?
: : I heard of people stuffing them into beetles before....(picture that!) I personally use a van or a station wagon. I am going to switch over to my 62 Caddy when i get it though.
: : : I was curious what kind of cars other bass players drove. My bass does not fit in my car. Do I have to get a station wagon?
: Al here - mine is an old toyota 2X pick-up - my bass in the back - on it's back on layers of cardboard - with soft support under upper back so the scroll DOES NOT have any weight or pressure on it...... I'm screwed if I get rear-ended - I have "good" insurance I hope I never use.
