Sounds like a good idea: compact, only two pieces, expabdable. Does the 8" on the Schertler have enough bottom end? I looked at the specs on the speaker: it looks pretty heavy(I guess that's relative).

: Coming to the realization that I want my bass to sound like my bass, I'm going the mic (AMT?) route. Instead of a conventional bass amp (Clarus), I'm considering something a EA 1x10 cab powered by something like a Carvin 150W (@8 Ohm) PA rack amplifier and then a small Behringer mixer so that I can potentially mix my Realist with the mic and would give me the flexibility to throw in a 1/3 octave EQ if needed. Is this stupid? or am I better off going the EA/Clarus route?

:
: i use the raven labs master blender together with
: 1 or 2 SCHERTLER pub2/280 active loudspeakers, pickup: fwf / close to underwood, mic: k+k golden
: trinity. this is an easy to use personal bass PA setup. smaller gigs: 1 speaker, and the second one if i need more power. together with a small mixing board, the self-powered speaker solution works as a PA system as well. the raven works with the active MACKIE loudspeakers very nice too.
