I would look on www.ebay.com I know a lot of people may argue about that but some sellers offer free shipping and freee set up, so let's face it it will probably not going to be a great bass for lesss a $1000 but it'll be an instrument where you can learn and honestly I've played tons of basses and there are differences of course but there is a lot of mystery, I've played some very expensive instruments that sounded like S!@#$%, and also played englehearts and chinese ones that sounded very good and were well set up, if you want to learn how to play but also how to sep up your instrument you better experiment witn an instrument that costa less than $1000 than a nice carved bass for $3000 or more.
