Don't have anything to add re repairs--Azola would be my first try. It would really be neat if their fiberglas body could retrofit as a replacement--they could then offer refurbs, for say $1000 or so.

Re the unofficial Ampeg site, it seems to be down these days. I tried to go there regarding s/n's and the History of Ampeg book does not have this info either, as far as I could find. This is the type of record probably lost through time.

Yes, it's UVEX and occasionally emits a Limburger-like stench. The body of mine is well intact, however, and sustain is decent since I raised the tail adjustment, straightening the strings somewhat. I have a Fishman pickup adapted to the bridge, though it's still a little thin sounding.

Good luck!

: Thanks for the help on the previous question Bob.OK here's another one for you.
: An Ampeg Baby Bass with a split seam on one shoulder. Apparently left to close to a heater. It's opened up about 2 cm and doesn't line up properly under clamps. These things are made from UVEX? Any ideas about closing and sealing/filling the gap? Thanks mate.
