The removable neck model (the one I have here to play myself as well as demo for customers) is very secure- essentially it has the same sort of joint that a fixed neck would have, but this one slides in and has a fastening bolt to keep it in place. I doubt you could find any audible difference between the two.
I personally would select the fixed neck model because of the lower price, and because I don't expect to need to knock it down for travel. But I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the removable neck model if I had the need. It feels great, there is no evidence of a removable neck other than the small nut at the top of the back - it sustains and growls for days, no prob.
