I agree with Bob about loosening the strings a bit, and would say it has to get a bit hotter than 90 for a while to really do any damage (unless we're talking vintage stuff). The heat in a closed car can easily reach 140+, whih is why I'd never leave a bass there.

I'd suggest a fan circulating air if nothing less...they really aren't very expensive to operate and can make a big difference.

And while I won't tease you about the bass, you did remind me how lucky I am to have a wife that welcomes the presence of my beast in the living room - it was there first, of course.
