: I'm moving from Texas to California soon and will be transporting my upright in the back of a rental truck. Can the heat damage the instrument? Any advice? Thanks.

Is it laminated or carved? Laminated basses will handle the heat better, but either may experience softening of the glue with heat and humidity. I would loosen the strings and perhaps even collapse the bridge, wrapping the instrument to avoid damage from the string backs if metal. The less stress during the ride the better IMHO.
