Re the Underwood.

Old tech, and I've never heard a bass sound good with one. The Fishman is even worse unless you like an un-natural sound with unrealistic sustain and no attack / kick. Sure, you'll be heard more clearly and sound more like a horn for soloing, but it won't drive a band which I would hope is more important.

Get a Gage Realist or better still, a good mic. The sound of the bass violin comes from its body and it breathes through the f holes, not the bridge.

>>: Could anyone please explain what is an underwood pickup for a upright aucostic bass? In short, what are the pros and cons with an underwood pickup compared to other pickups (e.g. the realist, etc.)?<<
