That is the pickup I hear over and over that doesn't sound good with the Contra. It seems to be better with bass amps like Hartke, GK, and SWR that are voiced for electric bass. The times I've heard the Realist that I hated it was through either a Contra or PA speakers.
: Its a Realist, that PU did not sound to good with the Acoustic Image Contra in certain situations.
: : What pickup are you using with your new amp?
: : I am curious as to the match up.....

: : : I recently got delivery of the newly re-issued SWR Baby Baby Blue combo amp (single 10" bass driver, switchable tweeter and tube preamp with freq. sweep on bass, mid and treble) and can say that I am really pleased. I use it with a 7/8 acoustic bass and a Yamaha Silent bass. I have owned Acoustic Image Contra and GK150's, but the SWR has (for me) the warmth and definition I have been looking for.
