Well, everybody's experience is different. I generally play smaller venues without an amp. My inclination would be to use the mic in a smaller situation and add the pick up in largere venues. But on to your question.
Bob Gollihur sells the Clever Device for the Golden Trinity mic/pick up system from K & K, most of the cats I know use it, even if they use a different pickup.
I use a different approach however. Instead of trying to find a method for putting both the mic and pick up through an amp, i put my mic (a Sennehisser MD409) through whatever house PA system is around (even the singer's crappy Peavey). That way you get the wood projecting into the house AND you can keep the pickup/amp level at lower and more manageable stage volumes.
Another guy I know (posts under his first name, Monte, at talkbass) eschews an amp entirely. His mic goes into the house system and his bass supplies ample volume for the stage level.
