hey man you can't go wrong with Mesa/Boogie! like the other guy's stated, the Bass 400+ is an awesome bass amp. it beats the shit out of the Ampeg SVT. it's sounds so awesome because the signal path is all-tube, unlike SWR, Hartke, Eden, etc. no hybrid stuff, just pure tube tone
I plug my Yamaha Billy Sheehan straight into a 400+ which powers a pair of Mesa/boogie Powerhouse 1000 cabs. (these contain 1x15, 4x10, and horn in each) no f/x. I get compliments on my tone all the time. hell, even studio nitwits rave about the 400+ cause it's so easy to get a great bass tone
one thing about Boogie is that it's kinda pricey, but not too outrageous. anyways, Boogie gear is built like Sherman tanks and have great resale value (not that I'll ever part with mine)
