: : : My current bass is an old Yamaha 4-string passive bass (BBIII). I am in the
: : : process of going to an active 5-string but with limited funds. Could anyone out
: : : there recommend a decent 5-string in the $500-700 range?

: : : Thanks

: : Hey..I've been looking for basically the same thing, and I found the Tobias Pro 5 off of - This thing seems to have it all! Neck through, good active elctronics, the name Tobias on it... anyway, i've heard that these things are amazing, and I played one the other night for like 30 seconds, and that decided me. Awesome. Just my opinion though. Check em out. ($599!)
: : Deman

: Ditto completely on the Tobias. They even make one with a bolt on neck for like 300, still with active. I played one of the through neck models very briefly and it practically plays itself. Check it out!

I like the Conklin Groove Tools line. High Quality, very affordable.
