: Hey guys! I thought it would be interesting to hear everyone's opinions on Fender P-Basses. You know, the ones all the funk guys used in the 60s and 70s -particularly when the P-bass is strung with flat wounds! The Jass bass is pretty popular because of guys like Jaco and Marcus (and many others too numerous to list) and because it has that great growl to it.

: But, how many of you like the P-bass sound, hate the P-bass sound, play a P-bass, or have compared a P-bass to a Jazz bass?

JTM,
Well, considering that this year is the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the P-Bass (Leo Fender's *most* important accomplishment, in my opinion), obviously the design has more than a bit of staying power...

I just got myself a nice P-Bass clone (Kramer Focus 420S - $89.95 at www.musicyo.com); the design isn't as sexy as some of the newer basses, but for a good, stable bottom end, I'd say it's still great after all these years!
