: My question simply is this, I now play gospel music in my church, very different style from my previous Metal Madness. Most of the tapes they give me to learn the bass is OBVIOUSLY playing a rumbling 5 String, I have cloned this by tuning down either a whole or half step, but when I do this I tune all four strings, my delima is Im not familur with a D tuner, being it just tunes down the E string, therfore finding the relative octive harder? or is it just something you have to adjust to? This is why I tune all 4 strings down, but im trying to do away with that, so would someone suggest what is more feasable in the long run, a Drop D tuner, or another bass. Then I have to learn the B string, uggg.
: I appreciate all comments on the Five string bass imperticular, because I am so in the dark with these monsters, Im trying now after all these years of fooling with the bass, to learn the instrument.
: Thank you.

Rob, not that I'm trying to spend your money for you, but, if you're even con-
sidering a 5 string, that must mean you can afford it. Buy one. I had my sites
all set on a 5er, then I spotted another 4 string at a steal of a price, so I
went with it. Believe me, you won't have to learn the B string. The first time
I played a five string, my fingers just glided onto the B as if it was second
nature. Then there's the sound: Oh man! I can't wait to get a 5 string, but,
wait I must. If you're sitting on the fence, fall onto the 5 side.

Spend my friend, boost the economy!
