Quinn, I'm very into Jazz(not just jazz bass playing) and horn players are very close to my heart. I don't know Jon personally, but he plays here in New York
a lot, although I haven't seen him yet. This is the guy carrying on in Dizzy's
place. I still can't find his CD "Hornucopia", I think it's out of print. I've
been looking for it for a while now. I have another of his CDs, though I can't
recall the name right now(I'm at work) I bet you like Claudio Roditti as well.
He's one of my favorites. Moving on to sax, my main guys are: Paquito D'rivera,
Boney James, and Tom Scott to name a few. I almost bought a Selmer Mk six about
twenty years ago, but, blew the money on a woman. Ah the regrets. To me Jazz is
the ultimate form of music, and horns, whatever type, are the ultimate expression of Jazz.Horn players are # 1 in my book.
