: I second the Ibanez Soundgear 5 string series. I have small hands and use a SG 405 (which was cheap but sounds great except near fluorescent lights).

I also used a Yamaha 5 string, but got rid of it cause it was like a block of wood.

Slapping is harder with the SG cause the strings are closer together - thats the trade-off.

One Major problem with a lot of 5 strings is that the low B sounds like crap Take your time and do some serious sound comparisons using a good bass as a reference.
