: The Slowwound bass strings are just a fancier version of the XLs as far as I know. Both are nickel roundwound strings. I think the only difference is the way they are wound. I think the Slowwounds use a little more advanced winding technique...thus they are more expensive. My Roscoe bass originally came with the Slowwound strings, but after replacing the dead Slowwounds with the XLs, there's not too much of a difference as far as I can tell. I like 'em both!

I have slowounds on my Ibanez. They're very good strings, but as Zach said, I
can't tell the difference between them and regular D'addario strings.
