I have an SGX nightbass and the x-15 controller. I've added the "SE" upgrade chip, available from ART. This thing sounds great. One of the follow up posts stated that his friends SGX sounds like "crap". Well, what kind of bass and pick ups is this guy running? What is his Amp and cabinet set up like,do they sound pretty good by themselves? His buddies set up, either the bass or Amp and cabinet) probably suck. Ya gotta remember that "you cant polish a turd". This is a multi effects proccessor / pre amp. And it's great at fine tuning any nuances that you may want to tweak out of/ or add to your sound. All in all, if you take the time to actually learn how to,and understand the functions availiable in this unit, it will more than likely give you what you are trying to achieve. My only negative feedback on this unit is, when running chorus or flanger in line with the "tube preamp" engaged or blended ( instead of "solid state" alone)I get a 60 cycle hum in the back ground. This happens at home as well as in a live situation. I run a power conditioner before I send it to my rack. I removed most of this except for the split second "before" the attack of noise gate and compressor clips the hum, by adjusting the noise gate and if neccasary rolling back the compressor. I do tend to pick up a hum live, if I am set up to close to the dimmer packs, for the light system. Other than that it's a very good unit. Don't let my negative feedback keep you from checking this unit out. This problem may ony be inherant to my SGX for what ever reason. If anyone else has come across this issue and has solved the problem please contact me. Sccssful1@AOL.com --- Enjoy, Angelo
