The absolute best 5 string I have ever found for the money is the "Cort" Curbow 5 string--endorsed and designed by Greg Curbow, luthier of $3-5000.00 basses. This bass is a copy of his design, for usually under $500.00.Bass,Mid,Treble boost, contour switch, for slap, and volume. The contour switch is even attenuable on the back of the bass!

: I was going to post this anyway, but, it'll be appropriate for the post below by She Devil.

: I'm looking for a five string, and have a few ideas in my head, but, I'm not in a hurry to buy anything, and I honestly don't need another bass, I just want a fiver. I was just browsing around, and saw an Epiphone Les Paul bass for $469.00
: at Musiciansfriend. Then, I went over to Samash, and they have them for $219.00!
: That was no typo: $219.00! Now a Les Paul type bass was not on my list at all, but, for that price I'm very tempted. So I'm just telling anyone who might want a decent 5 string without spending a fortune where to get one. I haven't played one, but honestly, how bad can it be? I have a feeling it would actually sound pretty good.

: Has anyone played or owned one? How does one place sell the same exact instrument for half the price of another? This is not a sale. I work three Subway stops from Sam Ash's Manhattan store, so if I go in there I know I'm going to by one. Lord, give me self control.
