: String height from frets. I own a Dean Edge Q5, replaced the strings and wondering what if there are any guidelines for string height above the frets. Recently I raised the action a little from the factory settings; I had a little fret buzz on the B and E before I did this and it took care of the buzz. Also wondering what the string height from the pick-ups should be and if I should raise the pick-ups a little since I raised the string action. Thanks.

A good starting reference for string height is 5/32 from the pole to the string. A drill bit works fine for this measurement. Then adjust the height accordingly. i.e., What feels good and the out put of the bass strings compared to the treble strings. hope that helps...peace....john
