I've always used Duracell and I can hear them subtly starting to clip for a couple of gigs before having to replace them (Aria LEB).

The only time I had to change batteries mid-gig was when I had been too lazy to change them when packing up at previous gigs and then turned up at the gig too late to change them. I just switched to passive and survived until an opportunity to change batteries came up. The benefit is that I now know how soon to do something about it (a bit like finding out how far your car will run after the fuel guage drops below the E).

: It's also one more thing that can go 'wrong' in a performance situation. Man I'd hate to be onstage and have forgotten to put in a fresh battery, and start hearing my sound fade into static....

: : Some people prefer the "untouched" sound of a passive bass, but itīs a question of taste. In my humble opinion itīs good to have that "extra" power, you may need it...

: : Peace
