: I've got a 8x10" cab and I'd like to put a 1x15" cab with it but how will the power devide between the cabs when I only have one amp. What I'm afraid of is that will the 15" speaker take too much of the power as it's smaller? Both cabinets are 4 ohms, so I'll connect them such that they are 8 ohms that way the amp won't break.
wait a minute! Both of your cabinets are 4 ohms? Then if you hook them up in parallel (which is more likely the case), you'll be running your amp at 2 ohms, not 8. Is this good or bad? It depends on wether your amp can handle that load. Some amps can and some can't. Please check out your amp manual and/or documentation before frying your amp's transformer and/or your speakers like nobody's business!!
Now, assumming your cabinets were both 8 ohms and you hooked them in parallel (which would make up for a total 4 ohm load), then you shouldn't worry about one cabinet "absorbing" more juice than the other. If both cabinets are rated at the same impedance, then I don't see how the cabinet size could make a difference in the amount of power each one recieves. Both should take half of the power from the amp each.
Hope this helped. Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,
