That old simple pleasure...

Hey there gang,
A few days ago I just found a CD that quite simply refuses to leave my discman ever since. So much so, in fact, I'm listening to it while I'm writing this. What is it?, you may wonder. Well, it's Fastball's "All the pain money can buy" (featuring the smash hit "The way", remember?).
Frankly, I don't know why I picked it up in a used CD store, but I'm really glad I did. The point is, there's no bass flash at all in this record. Instead, there's a bunch of great simple, energetic, melodic, unpretentious rock songs. And it's great fun to listen to.
It may sound odd, but after months and months of searching for the wildest, flashiest, craziest bass stuff I could put my hands on, listening to this music seemed like a refreshing breath of new air.
If there's a moral to this story (and I'm not sure there is one), it would be something like this: sometimes it's great to remember that beautiful music is a lot more than just great bass parts. Sometimes it's nice to remember the power of the songs themselves, no more, no less. In my case, this CD kind of brought back that old simple pleasure of listening great rock songs, and it was nice to notice it was still there.
I don't know if all of the above makes any sense at all, but I wanted to share some of it with you guys anyway. Thanks for the bandwidth and, as always, buena suerte and keep your basses way up front in the mix,

El Pájaro
