: Hey guys,
: I'm another bass player thinkin' about changing the pickups on my ibanez SG 400.
: They have p and j pick ups by Dx or something like that. Anyway, I was thinkin'
: about throwin' some emg's p and j's simply because I noticed that's what Victor Wooten
: uses. Then the humbucker pickup (if that's correct) was brought to my attention. I was told
: that these pickups make a great sound especially for slapping. What do you think??
: Also I have a fender jazz fretless that I wanted to put different pickup's on as well.
: I'm not sure what Victor uses on his fretless but I want to know 'cause that is my favorite
: thing about vic's playing... that fretless sound!
: Your help will be deeply appreciated,
: Quinn
A P pick up is a humbucker, and the EMG's would sound fine. I believe the fretless has Barts in it....soap bar humbuckers would require extensive routing to put in that bass, so I would stick with the p&j....
